OH LITTLE FOXES

ARCTIC Fall / Winter 2017

LAUNCHING FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH

Another season, another fox as our muse. This fall and winter, we're obsessed with the arctic fox. With all her brains, beauty, and brawler, she inspires us to always adapt to any situation and adversity we might face, no matter how harsh the conditions.

With the ability to withstand frigid Arctic temperatures, this little fox, no bigger than a large domestic house cat, has the ability to blend into her environment and thrive. In the summer, she sports a brown coat, allowing her to blend into the rocks and foliage; meanwhile, in the winter she dawns an all white, thick coat, making her indistinguishable from the snow. It's this adaptability that inspires us to design pieces that will do just that, and flow effortlessly in your wardrobe, no matter the occasion.

With sleek, streamlined designs, the ARCTIC collection combines rudimentary shape like circles and squares, with other modern silhouettes for a unique and clean pairing. With inspiration from the icebergs and landscape of the arctic tundra, we've selected some gorgeous semi-precious gemstones to compliment each and every piece.

Larvikite, also known as Black Moonstone or Blue Labradorite, originates from the Larvik Fjord region of Norway, and is a member of the Feldspar family, which lends to it's dreamy iridescent flashes of blue.

Amazonite, a stone known for its semi-opaque blue-green colors, cant help but keep us thinking of those gorgeous icebergs that will never stop impressing us. With inclusions of Tourmaline, these vary in patterns and striations, leading each and every stone to be unique in its own way.

Herkimer Diamonds, which are not actually diamonds but instead double-terminated quartz, originates from Herkimer, New York. These glistening raw stones have an unmatched beauty that is both stunning and simple.

Each piece is designed to make a statement, no matter how big or small, with the use of contemporary shapes, movement, and balance. Take your handcrafted jewelry from day to night, from your jeans and tee look, to a night out on the town. With the ability to be dressed up or down, each piece is created to pair with your wardrobe for years to come.

Look for the new collection Friday, September 29th to discover the newest in jewelry.

SPRING 2017 RECAP

Incredible. That word alone doesn't even begin to sum up the Spring that OH LITTLE FOXES has experienced. I don't even know where to start, except to say how much I appreciate each and every one of you curious and lovely foxes who came out to support us at our shows and collaborations, sent us loving messages via social, and uplifted us every step of the way. To say we couldn't do it without you would be a huge understatement. You truly give us some serious creative fuel that inspires the entire making process, from beginning to end.

OH LITTLE FOXES Handmade Jewelry | Arcadian Spring 2017 Show | Deep Ellum | Dallas Texas

We spent this spring touring our home state of Texas, from Midland, to Dallas, down to Austin, and beyond, meeting exceptional makers each step of the way, participating in some amazing handmade markets, craft fairs, and pop ups that went above an beyond, and had opportunities to make new friends and catch up with old ones.

What I love most about these markets is the chance to get out in front of strangers, and connect; you never know who is going to walk into your space. The chance to share my passion for handmade and encourage others to find their creative outlet is always such a positive experience. It never ceases to amaze me how genuinely interested people are in our story, and its great to share it in hopes that it will inspire another to follow their passion.

OH LITTLE FOXES Handmade Jewelry | Flea Style Dallas Spring 2017

That being said, its not always the perfect experience. You never know what uphill battles you may be facing. I definitely had my fair share of learning experiences this year-to-date. I admit that I'm a planner, and can be particular when it comes to all things OH LITTLE FOXES; when things don't go as planned I can get a bit stressed. One of the best take-a-ways from this Spring is learning to let go and be adaptable, because you don't always win those battles.

There was that time we had to put up with extreme winds in North Texas that wanted to take us for a ride, or that other time when we had a piece stolen off our table, a piece that I spent hours making. That one hurt. Not to mention the morning I woke up to a grossly swollen face and weakness due to a tooth infection, and I didn't get to attend one of my favorite shows that made their debut in our backyard of Austin. Luckily, my amazing husband and OH LITTLE FOX in training, Spencer, stepped up and worked it for me.

Even with the unexpected negativity that can squeeze into our lives, there are lessons to be learned from each experience, and silver linings when you look for them. I'm thankful to face those, because without them I wouldn't grow, and moving forward I'll be able to tackle those issues with knowledge.

As I look forward to the rest of summer, I am incredibly excited to refocus on what matters most: empowering women like you through encouragement, persistence, and even something as small as a piece of handmade jewelry. Work on the Fall / Winter collection has already started, and will be coming to you in the next few months. I'm excited to share snippets of what's happening with you along the way, as well as announce some amazing collaborations that have been taking place over the summer with some talented artists and creatives.

I can't wait to share more, but in the meantime, keep curious, stay inspired, and create quality in your life in all ways, shapes, and forms.

XOXO

The Handmade Pop Up

Hi all you lovely foxes! It's that time again, and The Handmade Pop Up is in full swing again starting today thru May 15th. If you didn't get a chance to check out the first ever launch last Fall, then I highly encourage you to check it out today! The concept originated from the amazing women behind Craft Your Life Collective (CYL) and Maker's Movement; with a desire to expand beyond their already exceptional maker oriented communities, they've worked hard to bring an online pop up shop to the masses with highly curated and extremely talented artists and small businesses. This way, you can experience a wide variety of art and handmade lovelies from across the globe.

The coolest part as a maker is the chance to get to know some truly amazing people that I otherwise probably wouldn't ever "meet!" There's only so many markets a small business like myself can fit on a calendar, with limitations around travel, timing, etc. This opportunity allows me to expand my own little community from the comfort of our base of Austin, Texas.

I've highlighted a few of my favorite things that are currently for sale on the website; I went through each and every category this morning and let me just say, there are some fabulous items out there now. I truly wish I could buy it all, but there are some definite "must haves" that I'm not going to be able to do without...I'm looking at you ceramic space cats. Plus, it's right in time for Mother's Day, so you can build a legit handmade gift basket for mom if you're feeling like going above and beyond, because you know she's worth it. Have fun shopping my friends!

XOXO

Rachel Marie

SWIFT : Spring / Summer 2017 Collection

SWIFT : Spring / Summer 2017 Collection

With the launch of the SS17 collection I wanted to take a moment to speak about the inspiration behind the newest addition, SWIFT.

The primary inspiration behind this collection is the Vulpes Velox, commonly known as the Swift Fox. This little gal is near and dear to my heart, as she is indigenous to the geographical area in which I was raised. While shy and small, this fox is a fighter who has survived and rebounded from being a endangered species, battling predators who are twice her size, and fiercely maintaining her territories at all times. She roams from the great plains of Canada, all the way down to Texas, occupying a vast swatch of the North American landscape.

Naming the collection after this fine fox also gives me a chance to revisit my upbringing. While I currently reside in Austin, Texas, known for the surrounding beautiful hill country, bountiful outdoor activities, live music, and tacos, there's still a part of my heart nestled into the panhandle of West Texas where I've spent the majority of my short life. There's an understated beauty to the vast plains and grasslands; the experience of being surrounded by boundless borders and skies that stretch from horizon to horizon is a tremendous feeling.

Between sunrises, sunsets, and the twinkling night skies, it's a magical land filled with centuries upon centuries of history. My small town community, while it doesn't necessarily define me, certainly helped shape who I am, and helps me appreciate the simplicity in life. The juxtaposition to the hustle and bustle of city life is welcoming, and it's always a relaxing experience when I have the opportunity to return to my roots.

SWIFT embraces the attributes of the great plains of the Texas Panhandle, from the geography, flora, fauna, to the mineral makeup of another sliver, yet unique topography and climate of greater North America.

So here's to the Swift fox, the greater Southwest region, and the attitude is encompasses.

The Handmade Pop-Up Starts Today

Good morning y'all! I wanted to take some time this morning while I sip my oh so delicious pecan coffee to tell you about a super exciting upcoming event for OH LITTLE FOXES! As the holidays are soon approaching, all of us makers are doubling down on our events, inventory, and time management, because it's easy to loose your free time along the way. That being said, I wanted to share with you a wonderful event that starts today! Introducing, for the first year, The Handemade Pop-Up, an online shopping experience of well curated and artisan made products.

The shop kicks off today at 10:00 CST / 11:00 EST, and goes through Sunday, November 6th at 5:00 CST / 6:00 EST. To give you a little more insight, this is a passion project and side hustle of the amazing women behind CYLCommunity and Makers Movement, Grace and Sam. As I mentioned, this is the first year, so we're all very excited to be a part of this and help contribute to making this a yearly event. We'd love your support in checking it out!

The Handmade Pop Up Vendors

I compiled a tittle taste of some of the amazing vendors that are participating, and I feel so overwhelmed and joyous that I was selected to be a part of this amazing community! How beautiful are these items, all handmade! There's so much talent, and this little compilation is only scratching the surface.

Vixen Chandelier Earrings - Boho Chic Jewelry

I will also, of course, have a limited selection on the shop as well, including my very favorite VIXEN chandelier earrings! They make a lovely gift for any occasion, and the holidays are no exception.

So, with that being said, go check it out! There's plenty of beautiful, well thought out products; and even if you aren't shopping for the holidays, you may discover a new artist you love, and can now add them onto your holiday wish list. Happy shopping friends!

DIY Faux Concrete Planters

DIY Faux Concrete Planters

Woah, hold on…is it Spring already?! I’ve been waiting for this moment for what felt like ages! Not that I’m not a fan of Winter, but in my honest opinion, it’s not Winter if there’s not snow, cold weather, and fires. This Winter in Austin was very mild, so it was a bit hard to...
