Incredible. That word alone doesn't even begin to sum up the Spring that OH LITTLE FOXES has experienced. I don't even know where to start, except to say how much I appreciate each and every one of you curious and lovely foxes who came out to support us at our shows and collaborations, sent us loving messages via social, and uplifted us every step of the way. To say we couldn't do it without you would be a huge understatement. You truly give us some serious creative fuel that inspires the entire making process, from beginning to end.
We spent this spring touring our home state of Texas, from Midland, to Dallas, down to Austin, and beyond, meeting exceptional makers each step of the way, participating in some amazing handmade markets, craft fairs, and pop ups that went above an beyond, and had opportunities to make new friends and catch up with old ones.
What I love most about these markets is the chance to get out in front of strangers, and connect; you never know who is going to walk into your space. The chance to share my passion for handmade and encourage others to find their creative outlet is always such a positive experience. It never ceases to amaze me how genuinely interested people are in our story, and its great to share it in hopes that it will inspire another to follow their passion.
That being said, its not always the perfect experience. You never know what uphill battles you may be facing. I definitely had my fair share of learning experiences this year-to-date. I admit that I'm a planner, and can be particular when it comes to all things OH LITTLE FOXES; when things don't go as planned I can get a bit stressed. One of the best take-a-ways from this Spring is learning to let go and be adaptable, because you don't always win those battles.
There was that time we had to put up with extreme winds in North Texas that wanted to take us for a ride, or that other time when we had a piece stolen off our table, a piece that I spent hours making. That one hurt. Not to mention the morning I woke up to a grossly swollen face and weakness due to a tooth infection, and I didn't get to attend one of my favorite shows that made their debut in our backyard of Austin. Luckily, my amazing husband and OH LITTLE FOX in training, Spencer, stepped up and worked it for me.
Even with the unexpected negativity that can squeeze into our lives, there are lessons to be learned from each experience, and silver linings when you look for them. I'm thankful to face those, because without them I wouldn't grow, and moving forward I'll be able to tackle those issues with knowledge.
As I look forward to the rest of summer, I am incredibly excited to refocus on what matters most: empowering women like you through encouragement, persistence, and even something as small as a piece of handmade jewelry. Work on the Fall / Winter collection has already started, and will be coming to you in the next few months. I'm excited to share snippets of what's happening with you along the way, as well as announce some amazing collaborations that have been taking place over the summer with some talented artists and creatives.
I can't wait to share more, but in the meantime, keep curious, stay inspired, and create quality in your life in all ways, shapes, and forms.
