SWIFT : Spring / Summer 2017 Collection

With the launch of the SS17 collection I wanted to take a moment to speak about the inspiration behind the newest addition, SWIFT.

The primary inspiration behind this collection is the Vulpes Velox, commonly known as the Swift Fox. This little gal is near and dear to my heart, as she is indigenous to the geographical area in which I was raised. While shy and small, this fox is a fighter who has survived and rebounded from being a endangered species, battling predators who are twice her size, and fiercely maintaining her territories at all times. She roams from the great plains of Canada, all the way down to Texas, occupying a vast swatch of the North American landscape.

Naming the collection after this fine fox also gives me a chance to revisit my upbringing. While I currently reside in Austin, Texas, known for the surrounding beautiful hill country, bountiful outdoor activities, live music, and tacos, there's still a part of my heart nestled into the panhandle of West Texas where I've spent the majority of my short life. There's an understated beauty to the vast plains and grasslands; the experience of being surrounded by boundless borders and skies that stretch from horizon to horizon is a tremendous feeling.

Between sunrises, sunsets, and the twinkling night skies, it's a magical land filled with centuries upon centuries of history. My small town community, while it doesn't necessarily define me, certainly helped shape who I am, and helps me appreciate the simplicity in life. The juxtaposition to the hustle and bustle of city life is welcoming, and it's always a relaxing experience when I have the opportunity to return to my roots.

SWIFT embraces the attributes of the great plains of the Texas Panhandle, from the geography, flora, fauna, to the mineral makeup of another sliver, yet unique topography and climate of greater North America.

So here's to the Swift fox, the greater Southwest region, and the attitude is encompasses.
